On December 1, 2020, the group standard conference of “Antibacterial and Antiviral Coatings” and “Antiviral Performance Test Method of Coatings (paint film)” sponsored by the China Coating Industry Association was held in Beijing. As one of the drafting units, GTSS Chengde Technology Co., Ltd. was invited to participate in the development of two industry standard contents and won the certificate of honor. The release of the standard provides an effective norm and a clear basis for the antibacterial and antiviral coatings market, and has a great impact on the construction of a sound environmental protection and healthy home defense system under the current background of environmental protection home improvement and the normalization of epidemic prevention and control.
The new coronavirus epidemic in 2020 has ruthlessly swept through and become a “demon” affecting people’s health. Now antibacterial and health have become the primary goals pursued by the public in production and life. In this special environment, no industry will become an island, and the home paint industry is under great pressure. Must be the focus of attention in the industry.
The formulation of the two group standards has broken the situation of the lack of international antiviral coating standards, which is conducive to improving the quality of antibacterial and antiviral coating products, speeding up the standardization construction of the industry, and improving the consumer’s recognition of antibacterial and antiviral coating products.
Group standard
In the group standard of “Antibacterial and Antiviral Coatings”, clear requirements are put forward for the conventional properties of coatings, the limit of harmful substances in coatings, and the antibacterial and antiviral properties of coatings. Among them, in the Grade I antiviral performance standard line, the H3N2 antiviral rate should be greater than or equal to 99.9%, and the EV71 antiviral rate should be greater than or equal to 95.0%.
In the group standard “Test Method for Antiviral Performance of paint (paint film)”, the terms and definitions of antiviral performance test of paint (paint film) are specified, test principles, reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, test preparation, test steps, antiviral durability test and test report. Suitable for the determination of antiviral properties of coatings (paint film), including water-based coatings, solvent-based coatings, radiation curable coatings and powder coatings.
The release of the two group standards, so that the production and performance of antibacterial and antiviral coatings will be “law-based”, providing the industry with a more scientific and practical antibacterial and antiviral performance test method for coatings, and providing an important basis for enterprise production, product circulation, and consumer awareness of product quality.
